Ghislaine Boundjia, Founder of Village en Livres

Originally from Fondjomekwet, a village nestled in the heart of Cameroon, Ghislaine Boundjia is driven by a powerful vision:
a world where every child — regardless of social or geographic background — has access to knowledge, dignity, and a future of their own choosing.
At a young age, she founded Village en Livres, a solidarity-based educational initiative rooted in her unshakable belief in the power of education, mutual aid, and community to break social barriers and offer children a better future. For over 24 years, she has dedicated her life to this mission.
Through her perseverance and commitment, hundreds of children — especially in rural areas — have been supported, encouraged, and empowered to realize their potential.
Village en Livres enables the creation of school libraries, the distribution of textbooks, and the support of substitute teachers.Ghislaine represents a generation of quiet builders — for whom every book opened is a door to freedom, and every child supported is a victory against injustice.

Education is not a luxury

1 in 3 children leaves primary school without knowing how to read.
We want to change this reality.

Curious and ready to learn

These children are only waiting for a pencil and a notebook to build their future.

This is not charity. It’s a right.
